UKAS Accredited Calibration for Blood Sciences and Pathology Labs

We provide UKAS accredited calibration for haematology, biochemistry, blood transfusion and pathology labs across the UK, for both NHS facilities and private labs, carried out to support your ISO 15189, MHRA and Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (BSQR) requirements, with as little disruption to your service as possible.

What's at risk when calibration falls behind in blood sciences or pathology?

Blood sciences and pathology labs handle material that can't always be replaced, and results that inform patient care. When calibration is late, wrong, or hard to evidence, it can mean:

Temperature mapping for blood products and reagents

If you store samples, reagents or blood products, you need to be able to show they've stayed within your defined limits the whole time, not just at the moment someone checked. Temperature mapping helps you prove this. 


We map:

  • Blood bank refrigerators and platelet incubators/agitators
  • Plasma and reagent freezers, including -80°C freezers
  • Sample and specimen fridges
  • Incubators and warm rooms
  • Cold rooms and walk-in chambers


What's included in your mapping study: 


  • UKAS 17025 calibrated, multi-point data loggers, placed in line with PHSS guidance for cold storage temperature monitoring and mapping of blood products
  • A full mapping report, with graphical temperature profiles, uniformity analysis and a pass/fail assessment against your acceptance criteria
  • Hot and cold spots identified along with door-opening effects
  • Traceable CO₂ and humidity calibration where it's needed


Centrifuge, balance and research lab equipment calibration

Sample processing depends on centrifuges and balances performing accurately, so we calibrate those too, to the same UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 standard, on the same visit where it makes sense.


We calibrate the centrifuges, balances and general equipment your protocols depend on, to the same UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 standard, on the same visit where it makes sense.


Centrifuges: speed (RPM), timer and temperature calibration, RCF calculation, and routine servicing. 


Balances and weighing scales: linearity, repeatability and eccentricity testing for analytical, precision and general-purpose balances. 


General lab equipment: thermometers and temperature probes (calibrated at our head office using our calibration bath), water baths, dry block heaters, pH and conductivity meters.
