Centrifuge Services

UKAS Accredited Centrifuge Calibration and Servicing

Centrifuges are precise pieces of kit. Speed, time and temperature can all drift as components wear. If they aren't performing as they should, your results can be affected.

We provide UKAS accredited calibration and servicing for a wide range of laboratory centrifuges, covering speed (RPM), run time, and temperature where fitted, carried out to ISO/IEC 17025.

How our calibration works

Calibration is a reference check. We measure your centrifuge's speed, time and temperature against UKAS traceable standards and give you a documented record of those results. We don't adjust or modify equipment as part of the process unless specifically requested.

What you get is an accurate picture of how your centrifuge is performing, which is what your auditor needs to see.

UKAS Accreditation

We are UKAS accredited to calibrate the following parameters on site:

Rotational speed — 100 to 60,000 rpm

Temperature — 3 °C to 40 °C

Run time — 10 seconds to 7,200 seconds

Why is servicing so important for centrifuges?

Of all laboratory equipment, centrifuges are among the highest risk if they aren't properly maintained. They operate at extremely high speeds and generate significant g-forces. If key components such as the imbalance sensor, rotor, or lid mechanism aren't in good working order, the consequences can be serious.

A poorly maintained centrifuge is a safety issue.

Regular servicing catches worn or failing components before they become a problem. We'd strongly recommend that any centrifuge in regular use is serviced alongside calibration and we can do both in a single visit.

How visible is wear on a centrifuge?

Worn components aren't always obvious to the operator. The machine can appear to be working fine right up until something fails. This is why regular centrifuge servicing matters, even when the centrifuge seems to be running normally.

Centrifuges we work with

We work with a wide range of laboratory centrifuges, including:

  • Benchtop centrifuges
  • Microcentrifuges
  • Refrigerated centrifuges
  • Floor-standing centrifuges

Frequently Asked Questions

If centrifuge performance has a direct effect on your results or your compliance requirements, UKAS accredited calibration gives you the strongest evidence that your equipment is performing accurately. If you're unsure what your audit requires, we're happy to talk it through.

Centrifuges rely on precise control of speed, time and temperature. Components wear over time and performance can drift, often without any obvious signs. Calibration gives you a verified record of actual performance rather than relying on the unit's own display.

Yes — where temperature control is fitted, we can include temperature verification as part of the calibration.

At minimum, annually — and ideally at the same time as calibration so it's all covered in a single visit. If your centrifuge is in heavy use, more frequent servicing may be appropriate. We're happy to advise based on your usage when you get in touch.
