The Cost of the Calibration Gap

When calibration isn't carried out regularly or you can't easily evidence it, the impact on a university or research lab can be great. It can mean: 


  • Samples, cell lines or reagents you can't replace and the cost of losing years of work.
  • Data thrown into question and results you can no longer stand behind or publish with confidence.

Temperature Mapping for Research Storage

If your freezers, cold rooms or fridges are holding material you can't afford to lose, a single reading tells you very little. What matters is knowing conditions have held steady over time. Temperature mapping is how you prove it.


We map:

  • Ultra-low temperature (ULT) and -80°C freezers, including cryogenic storage
  • -20°C freezers and standard laboratory fridges
  • Cold rooms, walk-in chambers and warm rooms
  • Incubators and controlled environment rooms


Every mapping study includes a full report with graphical temperature profiles, a pass/fail assessment against your acceptance criteria and hot and cold spots clearly identified. 


We use UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 calibrated, multi-point data loggers, placed in line with your protocol or industry standard, with traceable CO₂ and humidity calibration where it's needed.

Centrifuge, balance and research lab equipment calibration

Cold storage isn't the only thing that can undermine a result. A centrifuge running outside spec can throw off separation and skew downstream analysis. A balance that's drifted affects every reagent measurement built on it. 


We calibrate the centrifuges, balances and general equipment your protocols depend on, to the same UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 standard, on the same visit where it makes sense.


Centrifuges: speed (RPM), timer and temperature calibration, RCF calculation, and routine servicing. 


Balances and weighing scales: linearity, repeatability and eccentricity testing for analytical, precision and general-purpose balances. 


General lab equipment: thermometers and temperature probes (calibrated at our head office using our calibration bath), water baths, dry block heaters, pH and conductivity meters.
