One of the most avoidable causes of delay in a laboratory relocation is arriving at a new site to find something isn't right; a missing power supply, incompatible benching, a door that swings into the wrong place.
A lab readiness assessment identifies those problems before your equipment arrives, giving you the time to resolve them without it affecting your move.
The assessment covers both your current site and your new location, and combines a physical site visit with a desk-based review of relevant documentation.
We look at your existing equipment and how it's set up. This includes dimensions, services connections, power requirements, gases, water, drainage, extraction and the physical space. This gives us a clear picture of what your new site needs to accommodate.
We review equipment installation guides and building design plans including C-sheets that detail planned services like gas lines, power and drainage to identify any gaps between what's planned and what's needed before we set foot in the new building.
We carry out a second survey, typically after practical completion, the point at which the builder hands the building over but before you move in. This is the most valuable window. The building is finished but nothing is committed yet, which means issues can still be resolved without disrupting your move or your timeline.
The survey covers the key factors that determine whether your new lab can be commissioned successfully:
The assessment is designed to surface these issues while there's still time to act.
You will receive a clear summary report covering each area assessed, with a straightforward status for each item (no issues, minor issue easily resolved, or major issue requiring intervention) along with comments and recommended actions where needed. It's designed to be a working document.
The lab readiness assessment is most commonly carried out as part of a full laboratory relocation project.
However, if you're moving into a new space, taking delivery of new equipment, or simply want to know whether your site is ready before you commit to an installation, a standalone site survey is something we can discuss.
Get in touch and tell us what you're planning.
We also offer 3D scanning of laboratory spaces, a useful tool for planning equipment layouts, capturing accurate as-built dimensions and supporting design and fit-out decisions before a move. If this is something you'd like to know more about, get in touch and we'll talk through how it could help your project.

Tell us about your project and we'll come back to you within 2 working days.
