Total Organic Carbon analysers are critical pieces of equipment in pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality control. Keeping them performing accurately, with the right reference materials and a documented calibration record, is a regulatory expectation. We offer TOC analyser calibration using UKAS certified reference materials supplied by our partner Altus Science.

TOC calibration requires certified reference materials that are traceable to recognised standards. We work as a channel partner of Altus Science, a UKAS accredited manufacturer of TOC certified reference materials accredited to both ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034, using their standards to carry out calibration of TOC analysers.
The reference materials we use are produced under UKAS accreditation. The calibration service itself is carried out by trained engineers, using traceable standards. If your quality system or regulatory framework specifies particular requirements, get in touch and we'll confirm whether we can meet them before you book.

System Suitability Testing, or SST, is a routine check that confirms your TOC analyser is working correctly and producing reliable results. It's a requirement under the pharmacopoeial standards that govern TOC testing in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Using certified reference materials from an independently accredited source, such as those supplied by Altus Science, is what gives you the strongest evidence of instrument performance and full traceability for your compliance records.
TOC testing in pharmaceutical manufacturing is governed by internationally recognised standards, primarily USP Chapter <643> and European Pharmacopeia Chapter 2.2.44. These cover the requirements for TOC testing of pharmaceutical water, including purified water and water for injection.
The certified reference materials we use, supplied by Altus Science. are aligned with these standards, giving your quality team the documented evidence needed to demonstrate compliance.

The Sievers M9 is the most widely used laboratory TOC analyser in the pharmaceutical industry and is the primary analyser we support.
If you have a different model, get in touch and we'll let you know whether we can help.
This service is primarily used by pharmaceutical manufacturers and quality teams who need documented evidence that their TOC analysers are performing accurately and that the reference materials used are fit for purpose.
In most cases, yes. TOC analysis is commonly used to verify water purity as part of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and recognised pharmacopoeial standards specify requirements for TOC testing. Having a calibrated analyser with documented, traceable reference materials is part of demonstrating compliance.
Certified reference materials are standards with known, verified concentrations used to calibrate and verify the performance of analytical instruments. For TOC calibration, using UKAS accredited reference materials means the standards themselves have been independently verified which strengthens the credibility of your calibration records at audit.
Calibration adjusts your TOC analyser against traceable reference standards. SST confirms that the whole system is functioning correctly and capable of producing reliable results under pharmacopoeial requirements. Both are important for a complete compliance picture.
